Ascendo coffee is a coffee shop based in San Luis Obispo. We started with the idea that we could make the world a better place by participating in our community through business. That idea remains at the core of our vision. We are humbled by the wonderful relationships we have built in our community.

We fell in love with roasting coffee in 2014, and haven’t looked back. It is the cornerstone of our passion for coffee. We have spent countless hours experimenting with roast profiling and rebuilding and modifying our roasters. We have become very confident in our ability to roast specialty coffee consistently well.

We moved from our small hole in the wall to a 2800 square foot building just two doors down from our shop in 2015. We did all the construction ourselves with the help of friends and family. It was an incredible and humble experience to build something from scratch with the help of the community that we helped create.

In 2017, we changed our name to Ascendo Coffee. Ascendo Coffee! Same people, same values, same coffee! Ascendo means “I rise” in latin. The whole of our journey can be described by rising from the very little we had at the beginning. And we certainly couldn’t rise every morning without our coffee!
